Soumahoro Tabbed SAA Defensive Player of the Week

ATLANTA — Berry College's Mamadou Soumahoro led the No. 19 Vikings to a 48-10 stomp of Sewanee on Saturday night, earning the senior Southern Athletic Association (SAA) Defensive Player of the Week honors for the fourth time in his career. 

Soumahoro continues to perform as one of the top defenders in the SAA. At Sewanee, the reigning SAA Defensive Player of the year finished with five tackles, two sacks, 2.5 tackles for a loss, and a forced fumble on the first play of the game. Berry limited a Sewanee offense averaging 28.2 points per game to just 10 points. On the year, he has recorded 26 tackles, two forced fumbles and is tied for the league lead with six sacks.

Berry will host conference-rival Hendrix this Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
