MARYVILLE, Tenn. — The Berry College baseball team was edged on Tuesday afternoon for just the eighth time this season, dropping an out-of-conference contest to the Maryville Scots 4-1.
Dylan Beasley earned the start, but took the loss going 3.2 innings allowing three runs. Trevor Townsend took the win for the Scots in relief, going 4.2 innings, allowing just one run. Berry fell to 17-8 while Maryville improved to 23-5.
The Scots plated three in the bottom of the fourth off a Jake Petersen RBI single followed by a Mike Homan RBI double. Mike Homan added another in the sixth, before Jacob Delk sent his fifth home run of the year over the left field wall for the 4-1 final.
