ROME, Ga. -- Berry College toppled Transylvania University 22 to 3 improving their record to 13-4. The Vikings knocked 22 hits and 17 RBIs setting new programs records (NCAA Division III). The 22 runs set another mark breaking BC's 18-run record.
Ben Jernigan pitched six innings while only allowing one hit in the 21 batters faced. He improved his season record to 5-1. He received the well-earned game ball from Coach David Beasley. Braxton Teal and Casey Coats finished the game for Berry.
The Vikings tallied nine runs in the second inning and added five runs in both the sixth and seventh innings. Sam Joyce, Alex McGill, and Will Heard cracked three hits apiece. Austin Neely went perfect from the plate going 2-2 with a RBI. Starters, Alfred Francis, Ryan Smith, and Grant Perkins, collected two hits each. Francis, McGill, and Joyce each plated 3 RBIs in the game.
Berry has continued their streak to seven wins in a row. They look to further this success Saturday in a doubleheader (2x7 innings) against the Pioneers (4-6) starting at 1 p.m. at William R. Bowdoin Field.
Berry College baseball Head Coach David Beasley will be recognized for reaching the milestone of 500 wins. Recognition will be at about 12:45 p.m.
