MOUNT BERRY, Ga. - The Vikings stay undefeated in SAA play after capturing the regular season title and earning two big wins over Millsaps today.
Game One Berry 12 - Millsaps 0
Softball showed out in game one with
Ava Fouts in the circle, completing the five innings while only allowing two hits facing 21 batters, and striking out six of them.
Berry gained a quick 2-0 lead, scoring one in the first and second innings with RBIs from
Anna Jackson and
Morgan Frye.
The third inning really began to set the Vikings apart with four runs scored. Four hits in the inning sponsored the runs and Frye brought in two off a big double before heading back to the field up 6-0.
Fouts and the Vikings defense continued to do their thing in the top of the fourth and by the bottom of the inning, the bats were still hot for the home team, this time they would surpass the four-run inning with six coming across the plate.
Sydney Daniel,
Katie Parker,
Elly Bennett, and
Ava Fouts all singled, while
Katie White's double brought in three for the 12-0 lead over the Majors.
Fouts saw four more batters in the top of the fifth before shutting down Millsaps and run ruling them in game one.
Game Two Berry 14 - Millsaps 2
The second game happened in a similar fashion, with the Vikings winning by 12 behind huge hits and a great performance in the circle.
Casey Holloway stood out in her 4.1 innings pitched, including closing out the game with bases loaded.
The runs poured in the third inning, with the Vikings scoring eleven! It all began with a three-run homer from outfielder
Katie White to get things started.
The Vikings posted seven hits within the inning, and some wild pitches by the Majors aided in some advancing bases and scoring.
At the plate, Fouts went 3-3 scoring two runs while White and Frye each posted four RBIs in the win!
The Vikings will finalize the series tomorrow at 12:00 PM for their last regular season home game and last conference game.
