MOUNT BERRY, Ga.- The No. 2-ranked Berry Softball team won the first game of the 2023 Mount Berry Super Regional 2-0 against Belhaven University.
Hannah Gore pitched a complete game and tossed a one-hitter in the circle on Friday at Kay Williams Field.

In the third inning,
Katie White picked up where she left off from the last weekend, doubling to center field which sent
Morgan Frye in for the first run of the day. That was all the Vikings were able to get across until the fifth when
Shelby Daniel singled with two on to add another run in
Sydney Moroney.
Moroney went 2-for-3 at the plate with a run scored. "I was just seeing the defense, I guess," Moroney said. "My first at-bat, they were playing me back so I was able to get it past them. The second at-bat, they were playing me up so I was able to get it past them again. I was just trying to work the defense."
Gore needed only 82 pitches to get the win in the circle. The sophomore we able to work a few quick innings in the middle frames to keep her pitch count low. "I'd love to give some credit to my catcher
Anna Jackson. She had a great pitch-calling sequence today," Gore said. "I had a great defense behind me as well, and I couldn't have done it without them."
White continued to add to her school-record for hits in a season with her 68th of the campaign. Berry picks up its 40th win of the season, which ties the program record for the most wins in a season.
The Vikings look to punch their ticket to the D-III NCAA Softball Championship final site on Saturday at Kay Williams Field. Game two of the best-of-three is slated for 1 p.m, with the if-necessary game three slated for 3:30 p.m.
