Softball takes two from visiting Millsaps

ROME, Ga. - - Allowing only 4 hits all day, the Berry College softball team (21-6, 11-2 in Southern Athletic Association) beat Millsaps College (14-8, 7-8 SAA) twice on Saturday afternoon.

Led by Sarah Moore's (2-for-4) 2 triples and 2 RBIs, BC won the first game, 9-1, in 5 innings.

Kassie Howard (12-1) got the complete game win on the mound, allowing only 3 hits and striking out 7 in the process.

Brittany Ferrell (2-of-4) also added 2 hits in the win. Kenzie Fleming (1-for-1) and Brooke Mackelburg (1-for-2) collected 2 RBIs for the Vikes as well.

For the Majors, Megan Murray (1-of-2) led the offense with a hit and the only run scored for MC.

The Vikings outhit the Majors (9-3) and scored a run in all but one inning.

Kayla Davis took the mound in the second game for the Vikes, leading the defense to an 8-0 victory over the Majors. Davis only gave up 1 hit all game, allowing no walks and striking out 1.

Marie Collop (2-for-2) led the BC offense, sending a 3-run homer over the left center fence in the bottom of the third inning.

Brittany Tuttle (2-of-3) also added 2 hits in the win, tripling to right field in the bottom of the fourth.

Ferrell (1-for-2) and Sarah Brown (1-for-2) each collected 2 RBIs in the nightcap as well.

For the Majors, Missy Romero (1-for-2) clinched the only hit of the day.

Berry and Millsaps will finish up their series tomorrow, starting at 12 p.m.​
